The writer of one of the most memorable songs in UK rock and pop and an iconic 80s new wave group are set to perform in the island next year.
Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel have confirmed a new date for 2021 for their appearance at the Deep South Music festival.
Steve Harley, the writer of the catchy feel-good classic hit ’Come Up and See me (Make Me Smile)’, will now appear on Friday, August 20.
He was originally booked to perform at the festival in September this year.
Also announced this week is the new date for the concert by the Blow Monkeys.
The UK soul and pop group, who scored a string of hits in the 1980s, including ’Digging Your Scene’ and ’It Doesn’t Have to Be This Way’, will appear on Saturday, July 3.
The Blow Monkeys were supposed to be performing later this autumn.
Both concerts will take place at Tower House, in Douglas.
The Deep South Festival features a series of monthly concerts of bands from the 1960s through to the modern day, and will also include concerts from The Animals, The Troggs, Toploader, Space, Indian Queens and Satin Beige.
The festival, which also raises money for mental health charities, was set to take place throughout 2020, but had to be rescheduled following the Covid-19 pandemic.
Tickets for Steve Harley are £32.50, with the Blow Monkeys £23.50, available through the Deep South Festival Facebook page.
