At this time of year, Santa and his reindeer could be forgiven for taking it easy ahead of the big night, but the man in the red suit is bringing two of his magical creatures to the island.

Comet and Cupid will be making their appearance at Onchan’s Community Hub on School Road from December 5 to 8.

The reindeer will be the main attraction for the indoor event at the community centre, which will include a winter wonderland, a Christmas market, visits from Santa Claus and what organisers say is the world’s biggest Santa sleigh.

After the event, Santa is staying in the Isle of Man for a few extra days as he completes a round the island tour which will see him visit towns and villages in the north, south, east and west.

Santa’s helper Chris Mooney told the Examiner: ’This will see Santa mount his sleigh and driven around the island for 15 nights during December.

’We will be stopping at various locations around the island giving every child a chance to walk a shirt distance from there home and sit on the sleigh with Santa and they will also get a gift from the big man himself.

’This sleigh is a giant, 20ft long, over two metres high. It’s currently the world’s largest mountable sleigh.’

Chris also revealed that the team helping Santa will be providing live tracking updates about where he is on each day as he is touring the island.

Tickets for the reindeer and winter wonderland at Onchan Community Hub are £11 and it is £5 to meet Father Christmas during his island-wide sleigh tour.

The event has been organised by the Thriller in the Villa team at We Are Here and more information can be found on its website at www.wearehere.im/
