Braddan Commissioners have budgeted up to £100,000 for new public toilets.

They will be built at Cronk Grianagh Park, which is between the Heritage Trail (former railway line) and the Ballanawin housing estate in Union Mills.

Board members discussed possible designs at a meeting last week.

The first toilet block to be provided in the parish will be placed near the concrete skate park, with a covered seating area also being incorporated into the plans.

Chairman Andrew Jessopp says a budget of between £50,000 and £100,000 was agreed for the scheme last financial year, but delays meant it hadn’t progressed to the planning stage yet.

It’s part of a greater master plan by the commissioners for the area, with the costs funded through rates income.

On the same night Mr Jessopp (pictured) was re-elected as chairman for the next municipal year.

Mr Jessopp has served as chairman to the commissioners since May 2013.

Christina Corkill was elected as vice chairman for the first time, taking over duties from the previous vice chairman, Neal Mellon.
