Joe Reid is already looking ahead to the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham after missing out on a place in the men’s 800m final in Gold Coast, Australia.
The Manx athlete delivered his second best run to date in the third qualifier on Tuesday to finish sixth in his heat and 18th overall.
Reid’s potential route to the final had been made more difficult before the race even got underway as organisers opted to scrap the semi-finals and instead hold three qualifying heats.
The Island Games medallist produced a time of 1m 50.03s, which was narrowly outside of his lifetime best of 1:49.62.
Reaction from Joe in Thursday’s Manx Independent.
