Four of the Isle of Man’s Gold Coast swimming team were in first-morning action at the Commonwealth Games in Australia.

Charlotte Atkinson and Laura Kinley have both made it into the semi-finals of their first events.

The latter was fifth in heat one of the 50m breaststroke in 31.99s, a heat won by Jamaican Alia Atkinson who is the current Commonwealth Games record holder. Laura swims in the semi-final just after midday our time.

In the same event, Commonwealth Games debutant Steph Brew was seventh in heat two in 33.71, while Niamh Robinson also narrowly missed the cut coming home seventh in heat three in a time of 32.77.

Atkinson was second in her heat of the 100m fly in 58.97 to also make it into semi-finals that take place just after 12.30pm BST.
