Twenty-two members of the Buchan ’Chamber Choir’ sang incredibly well at the Barbican Centre in London.
They had to learn Part 2 in 15 songs.
The children arrived early and had rehearsals all day with Carole Lindsay-Douglas.
The massed choirs were accompanied on the piano, double bass, drums and percussion.
The concert started promptly at 6.30pm to a large audience.
The compere interviewed some of our pupils.
We were delighted that the composer of ’Take Control’ Laura Shur was in the audience and enjoyed our performance.
The Buchan Choir sang the solo parts in ’Jambo Bwana’ superbly.
The compere said that he had the voice of an angel and the audience applauded in total agreement.
The children enjoyed their day and some brought home a Barnardo’s Bear to remember the event.
Everyone was exhausted but pleased to have been part of such a fabulous and successful event which raised a lot of money for Barnardo’s.
We were thanked by the organiser of the event.
The massed choir of more than 500 pupils, along with the ’Pineapple Performing Arts Studio’, showcased their talents well in singing and dancing.
Barnardo’s believes every child should have the chance to fulfil their potential and that by supporting families they can help every child to thrive.
All the children looked fabulous in the grey Barnardo’s T shirts with their colourful rainbow on the front with ’Music is joy’ written on it and balloons flying in the air.
The concert ended with all the adults singing ’Land of Hope and Glory’ followed by everyone singing together.
The children waved their Manx flags.
The event was a great success enjoyed by all and one which the children will remember all their lives for the friendships made and for the joy so singing with so many different choirs from schools in England.
