A student services and support area has been created at Ramsey Grammar School.
It included Conor Cummins Café, which was partly funded by Co-op.
Customers who buy Co-op branded products and services help good causes because 1% of the money is donated.
The Co-op recently designated Ramsey Grammar School’s community café as one of the causes it was backing.
Head teacher Annette Baker said: ’We are continuingly looking at addressing the barriers that stand in the way of meeting the needs of all children and developing stronger links of specialist support within the framework of Ramsey Grammar School.
’The development of student services and support is instrumental in delivering excellence for all, which is providing more students with the opportunity to reach their full potential. We are extremely grateful for the support of the Co-op, of Connor Cummins and our parents’ association, who have helped us improve our services still further.’
The facilities ib the area include academic provision, social and emotional support, along with what the school describes as ’student engagement provision’.
The school nurse is based there too.
Pupils can receive careers information and mental health and wellbeing support.
The development of a school café has been inspired by the partnership with TT star Conor Cummins, who was a pupil at Ramsey Grammar School.
’At Ramsey Grammar School we are always extremely proud of our students both past and present. Conor is a role model for the students of this school and I am delighted that he is supporting our latest venture in developing a school café. We even have his racing leathers on show, which he designed whilst studying at the school,’ said Mrs Baker.
’This newest addition will enable students across the school to further develop skills which they can take with them into the working environment. It is envisaged that the area will become a social hub with students, staff, parents and the wider community all coming together.’
