A 30-year-old man has been fined £400 for being drunk and disorderly after a campsite row with his partner.

Jude Sneddon admitted the offence and was also ordered to pay £50 prosecution costs.

Charges of driving while disqualified, driving on a closed road, and having no insurance, were withdrawn.

Prosecuting advocate Rebecca Cubbon told the court that Sneddon, who lives at Heather Crescent, Pulrose, was at Silly Moos campsite at Churchtown near Ramsey on June 13 with his partner.

He was said to have been looking for her, knocking on camper van doors and looking in tents.

He found her in a friend’s camper van and became angry, telling the occupant: ’Come on, let’s take this outside. I’ll knock you out.’

Police arrived and Sneddon told them: ’There’s nothing going on. I’ve just been crying like a little baby.

When interviewed at police headquarters he answered ’no comment’ to most questions but said: ’I don’t remember anything. I was p*ssed.’

Defence advocate Matthew Wilshaw asked for credit to be given for his client’s guilty plea, entered at the first opportunity.

’He can’t argue that he was intoxicated. He had been arguing with his partner,’ said the advocate.

’He tells me he didn’t intend to follow through with the threats he made. We are dealing with a drunk and disorderly, not something more serious.

’There doesn’t appear to be any statement from the camper van owner, but a third party has heard them.

’The owner of the camper van was a friend and part of the group he was with.’

Magistrates chair David Craine told Sneddon: ’This seems to have been a classic case of alcohol in, sense out.’

Sneddon will pay the fine and costs at a rate of £15 per week, deducted from benefits.
