A 24-year-old man has been fined £300 for possessing £27-worth of cannabis.
Jordan Kingswood admitted having 0.9 grams of the drug in his car.
The court heard that he had a previous caution for attempting to possess a class B drug so a referral to the Drug Arrest Referral Scheme (DARS) or a caution had not been possible.
His car was said to be smelling of cannabis and a search of the vehicle found 0.9 grams valued by police at £27.
When interviewed he answered ’no comment’ to all questions.
Defence advocate Paul Glover said: ’This is a straightforward matter, a small amount for personal use.
’If it were not for the caution in 2020 it would possibly have been a caution.’
Mr Glover asked for credit to be given for his client’s guilty plea and co-operation with police.
He added: ’This took place nearly six months ago now and there have been no further offences.’
Kingswood was also ordered to pay £50 prosecution costs.
