A Birmingham TT fan has been given a six-month conditional discharge for being drunk in public.

John Alan David Oliver, of Greenway Gardens, was arrested on May 25 at Signpost Corner, a popular viewing spot on the Mountain Course, at 9.50am.

The court heard that a member of the public flagged down police, saying that a male had a facial injury.

Oliver, 37, was described as unsteady on his feet and slurring his words and had no shirt or shoes on.

He was arrested due to concerns over his ability to look after himself, as he was alone.

Oliver told police he was ‘on the p*** and had fallen over’.

He was also ordered to pay £125 prosecution costs immediately or face up to 10 days’ prison.
