Two Ramsey men have appeared in court charged with possessing heroin with intent to supply.

Scott Eric Carbutt, aged 40, and Michael David Nelson, aged 49, both of Waterloo Road, both entered a ’no plea’ response to the charge.

Mr Nelson also entered a ’no plea’ response to a dangerous driving charge, and not guilty pleas to failing to stop for police and failing to provide a urine sample.

Prosecuting advocate Hazel Carroon said that the allegation involved £22,000-worth of heroin so the case was not suitable for summary court.

Advocate James Peterson, representing Mr Carbutt, and David Reynolds, representing Mr Nelson, agreed that the case should go to the Court of General Gaol Delivery.

Deputy High Bailiff James Brooks declined jurisdiction and committal proceedings will be held on March 22.

Bail was granted for Mr Carbutt in the sum of £500 with conditions not to contact Mr Nelson, to live at his home address, and not to leave the island without court consent.

Deputy High Bailiff Mr Brooks refused to grant bail for Mr Nelson and he is remanded in custody.
