A 26-year-old man accused of rape has been granted bail by magistrates.

He appeared in court recently, entering a not guilty plea to trespassing with intent to commit a sexual offence.

A plea to the rape charge can only be entered at the Court of General Gaol Delivery.

Committal proceedings are on October 2.

The man can’t be named due to Manx anonymity laws.

He’s accused of entering a woman’s Ramsey address through an unlocked door on July 19, at 4am.

The woman said that she awoke to find her pyjama bottoms pulled down and the defendant naked on top of her.

Bail was opposed by prosecutor Barry Swain, but was granted, with a curfew and travel restrictions.
