A Peel man has been denied bail after his third appearance in court accused of a stabbing.

Forty-year-old Mark Benjamin William Quane, of Kerroo Coar, appeared before magistrates on June 5, via video link from the prison.

The case is due to be committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery on July 22.

A statement had been awaited from the alleged victim, and has now been made, but not yet provided to the defence advocate.

Mr Quane’s advocate, Peter Taylor, made a bail application, which was opposed by prosecuting advocate Barry Swain.

The defendant gave a prepared statement to police saying he was acting in self-defence.
