A 27-year-old Pulrose man has been put on probation for 18 months after admitting cocaine possession.
Cairo Dean Benjamin was already subject to a probation order, imposed in December for drug-related offences, but magistrates revoked that order and replaced it with the new one.
The latest offence was committed on July 15.
Police saw Benjamin walking on Alder Road and when they pulled over to speak to him, he ran off.
However, he then gave himself up and cocaine weighing 0.6 grams was found in a wrap in his pocket.
Benjamin, who lives at Alder Road, said that he had panicked and regretted running away.
He was represented in court by duty advocate Ian Kermode.
