A 37-year-old has appeared before magistrates charged with a domestic abuse offence.

Kit Alexander Robertshaw, of Cronkbourne Village, Tromode, is also accused of two counts of common assault.

The assault offences are alleged to have occurred at Wetherspoons in Douglas, and involve the defendant throwing an empty glass at a friend, which bounced off them and hit another.

He is then later alleged to have thrown a travel cup at his wife at home.

Mr Robertshaw was represented in court by duty advocate Ian Kermode, who asked for an adjournment until July 29, to allow time for the defendant to seek further legal advice.

Bail has been granted, with conditions not to contact the complainants, and not to enter Wetherspoons.
