A 27-year-old Douglas man has been fined £200 for cannabis possession.

David Anthony Teare, of Cullyn Park, was caught with two wraps in his rucksack on September 27.

Magistrates heard that police saw the defendant cycling with a juvenile on Loch Promenade in Douglas.

He was spoken to by police at Ford Street, and a search of Teare’s rucksack found the cannabis.

Prosecuting advocate Sara-Jayne Dodge said that no weight or value had been provided for the wraps, but it was a minimal amount.

Teare opted to represent himself in court and said: ‘I was an idiot and it won’t happen again.’

He was also ordered to pay £125 prosecution costs and will pay at a rate of £20 per week.
