David Roy Wade, aged 20, and 17-year-old Nathan Lewis Dalton-Baker filled a trolley during an early morning shopping spree, then left without paying.
Magistrates fined them £250 each, plus £125 prosecution costs each.
They have both also been ordered to pay £35 compensation each to Tesco, one third of the cost of the shopping.
A juvenile was also charged with the offence but will appear in a separate court.
Prosecuting advocate Annie Bannister told magistrates that Wade and Dalton-Baker went to the Little Switzerland branch of Tesco at Victoria Road on August 5, at 7am.
They took a trolley and went around the store collecting Cadbury Roses, Cadbury Heroes, a 12-pack of Red Bull, different varieties of Monster energy drinks, Greggs sausages rolls, steak bakes, cheese and onion bakes, and chicken bakes, milk, porridge, macaroni cheese, pasta meals, Pringles, and peanut butter bars.
When they reached the exit, Dalton-Baker, who lives Trollaby Lane, Union Mills, stayed with the trolley at the bottom of stairs, while Wade, of Glen Road, Laxey, spoke to a staff member.
Dalton-Baker then left with the items, without paying, and Wade followed, meeting him outside.
They were later arrested in Onchan at 1.30pm, but none of the items were recovered.
The total value of the stolen goods was £105.35.
In court, both defendants were represented by duty advocate John Wright, who said that four people had been involved, but one was not charged.
Mr Wright said that the group had been out the night before, staying up all night consuming alcohol.
He said that they had no money and were hungry in the morning, and that the theft had been opportunistic.
Magistrates told the duo: ‘Hopefully you have taken on board, that if you feel like a picnic, you do not go into shops and help yourself.’
They will both pay at a rate of £10 per week.
