A motorcyclist from Castletown has been fined £880 for riding without a licence, tax or insurance.
Anthony Darren Richard Giles admitted all three offences and also had his licence endorsed with eight penalty points.
Prosecuting advocate Roger Kane told the court that 32-year-old Giles, who lives at Rheast Barrule, was stopped by police on Shore Road in Gansey on November 18 while he was riding a Keeway 125cc motorbike.
His tax had expired in July 2021 and his provisional driving licence had expired in August 2021.
He was also not insured.
Defence advocate Paul Glover asked for credit to be given for his client’s guilty pleas and admissions to police.
’There was no criticism of the standard of his riding and he has no previous related convictions,’ said the advocate.
’He rectified all three matters the following day.’
Deputy High Bailiff James Brooks fined Giles £600 for having no insurance, £160 for having no tax, and £120 for having no valid driving licence.
He was also ordered to pay £50 prosecution costs and will pay all amounts at a rate of £10 per week, deducted from benefits.
