A Laxey woman has admitted assaulting two police officers while she was being arrested.

Julie Louise Hall kicked the man and woman as she was being taken to a police vehicle outside her home.

The 45-year-old pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting a police officer and one of resisting arrest.

She will be sentenced on February 17 after a probation report has been completed.

Prosecuting advocate Hazel Carroon told magistrates that police were initially called to Hall’s home at Ballacannell Estate on October 17 at 1.56am.

She made the call when her partner’s son arrived at the property but the call was cut off.

Police went to the house but Hall was calmed down by her partner so the police left.

However, they were then called back by her partner’s son, who claimed that Hall had assaulted him.

Officers went back to the house but the son said he did not want to make a complaint.

Police deemed it necessary to arrest Hall but she was said to have resisted and attempted to bite one officer.

She refused to walk to a police van and kicked out, making contact with two officers.

Defence advocate Jane Gray said that her client had initially called police because she had thought there was going to be an issue with her partner’s son.

Ms Gray said that Hall’s partner had rang back to say she was OK but police had then arrived and insisted on coming into this house.

She said that Hall had then had a panic attack after comments from the officers but had been calmed down by her partner.

Regarding the second police visit, the advocate said: ’They spoke to Ms Hall again and arrested her. She was quite compliant and calm. It was only when police were leaning over her and handcuffing her that she went into a frantic state.

’There was resistance and assault but we would say there is substantial mitigation.’

Ms Gray said that Hall asked for a probation report to be prepared before sentencing.

Magistrates accepted summary court jurisdiction.

Bail continues with a condition to contact probation and co-operate with the preparation of the report.
