A 26-year-old offender has been fined £200 after being found drunk in a public place.
Jordan John Butler admitted the offence and was also banned from entering licensed premises, and buying or being sold alcohol for three months.
Prosecuting advocate Rebecca Cubbon told the court that police received a report of a drunk man at Waterloo Road in Ramsey on January 8 at 10.20pm.
When officers arrived they found Butler lying on his back in the grounds of the church nearby.
He was unable to provide an address for police to take him to and was subsequently arrested.
The court heard that Butler is currently subject to a probation order imposed in October last year for two counts of criminal damage.
A probation report said the probation order was still relatively new so Butler had not been to a great number of sessions yet, but he had been engaging well.
The report said that, in relation to the latest offence, Butler had recently separated from his partner and had been distressed.
He told probation he had been drowning his sorrows and ended up intoxicated.
Butler, who lives on Stanley Mount in Ramsey, said he had also suffered a head injury as he had fallen over.
Defence advocate Joseph Burrows said that Butler had not intended to drink so much, and had slipped and hit his head while walking home.
Deputy High Bailiff James Brooks also ordered Butler to pay £125 prosecution costs which he will pay, along with the fine, at a rate of £30 per week.
