A shoplifter who stole £348 worth of clothing from Tynwald Mills has received a suspended sentence.
Anthony John Richard Lyons, 31, of Heather Crescent, Pulrose, pleaded guilty to a theft charge and was sentenced to 14 weeks’ custody, suspended for two years.
Defence advocate David Clegg said that his client was doing his best to address issues.
’If he can get himself off drugs the likelihood of him finding himself before the courts decreases enormously,’ said the advocate.
Mr Clegg said that drug addiction and his client’s offending had been linked in a probation report.
’He is making positive steps,’ said the advocate.
The court heard that all the stolen property had been recovered in a saleable condition.
Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes also ordered Lyons to pay £125 prosecution costs.
