The Family Library in Douglas was transformed into a Lego wonderland at the weekend.
Rollercoasters, space battleships, an electric-powered steam train and a map of the island were some of the wonderful creations on display for children and adults to gaze at.
This was the first time that the group of island-based Lego model-making enthusiasts shared their talents with the public.
Paul Carr, an event organiser, said: ’We didn’t know if anyone was going to turn up but the response was incredible, people just kept coming through the door all day.
’We could tell it wasn’t just the kids who were interested because there were just as many questions coming from adults.’
Those who attended the event were lucky enough to scan their eyes across a scale map of the Isle of Man with miniature Manx landmarks, such as the Laxey Wheel and Peel Castle.
A moving train and fun fairs kept people entertained while others studied the impressive work of the Lego Destroyer from Star Wars and huge Lego City buildings.
There was also a range of scale vehicle models and scenes from well-known films and TV shows made from the toy bricks.
The idea for the event began when the model-makers set up a Facebook group.
Paul added: ’Much of the appeal of Lego is the range of different styles available. We all have our favourites to collect and build, which lend themselves perfectly to an exhibition like this.’
The group thanks the staff at the Family Library for supporting the exhibition.
