Shoals of dancing fish, shimmering jellyfish, whales, turtles, pelicans and a myriad of other delightful sea creatures took to the stage for a dance school’s spectacular biannual show.
’Just Keep Swimming’ was performed by the Dancers Barre school, based in Laxey, on the Gaiety Theatre stage last Saturday, and was a interpretation of the film ’Finding Nemo’.
More than 50 youngsters took part in the show, with ages ranging from as young as four years old through to 18 year old ballet dancers.
Penny Webster, 10, played the part of Nemo, and was joined by a host of assorted fishy characters as she made her way home.
Rachel Withington, who runs the Dancers Barre school, said that the young dancers were thrilled to have danced on the Gaiety stage.
She thanked all the parents and friends who helped to create the stage set and the costumes, and also the crew at the Gaiety Theatre, who she described as ’incredibly helpful and supportive in helping to put the show on the stage’.
