A Ramsey man who won a 75-inch flatscreen TV in an Isle of Man Newspapers competition has decided to donate it to the town’s Crovan Court nursing home.

Dave Pearson arranged for the huge Samsung TV to be delivered to the home by Waltons Digital World, who also supplied a mount so it could be placed in one of the main lounges.

Fortunately, it was delivered in time before the home closed its doors to non-essential visitors shortly before the onset of the second circuit breaker lockdown.

Crovan Court manager Kath Blues told us that she couldn’t believe the size of the TV when it arrived, saying: ’It was unbelievable, it’s just such a lovely gesture’.

Kath said that the TV would make for ’quite a nice focal point’ in the home where residents would be able to gather to watch television, films, Netflix and music videos.’

She added that its size would mean that all the residents in the room would now easily be able to see it, as the TV they currently have is ’quite small’ by comparison.

After being informed that he had won the competition, Dave told us that on reflection he would rather donate the TV to the home, as he felt they would have a ’better need’ for the use of it than he would, especially in light of the difficult year that the elderly community has had with the pandemic.
