An emerging talent in the world of UK urban soul will kick off a revamped music festival later this year.

The opening night of the Deep South music festival will be headed by the unique and original sounds of soul and R and B singer Satin Beige, who will get the series of concerts underway on Friday, March 27, from 7.30pm.

Satin Beige, which although sounds like a stage title is actually her real name, is a singer and multi-instrumentalist and plays both the guitar and cello, whose music is described as ’an irresistibly arresting synthesis of R and B’s and pop that stays surprisingly expressive and vigourous from start to finish’’.

Hailing from Essex, Satin now plays out of Liverpool, where she moved to when studying at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, graduating in 2018.

She has supported the likes of Connie Lush and has also played with Tommy Scott, the singer with the indie group Space, who are also appearing at the Deep South festival in June.

She will be the first artist to appear at the Tower House venue, in Castle Street, Douglas, and will be the first to experience what the organisers hope will be a concert venue similar to an amphitheatre, with its three tiers of seating and balconies.

Tickets for the opening night are priced between £10 and £16, and are available via tickettailor.
