Contractor Auldyn has experienced difficulties in installing new utilities on the promenade, leading to a delay in reopening some roads.

The government’s My Prom team has announced that Empress Drive won’t reopen until Monday, October 19.

Empress Drive had been due to reopen on Thursday, October 15.

It added: ’The knock-on effect will see Castle Drive closed between 19-25 with Mona Drive from 25-31 October.

’Parking will continue to be suspended while the works are being carried out. Please note the parking suspension on Empire Terrace is to facilitate emergency vehicle access.

’It is important not to park in this area. When Empress Drive is closed exit off the Promenade will be via Mona Drive (there will be a reversal of traffic flow during this period).’
