Peel New Year’s Day Dip has raised £2,598 for three local charities.

Peel Lifeboat, Peel and Western Anti-Cancer and the Multiple Sclerosis Society all received cheques at a recent coffee morning held at St Patrick’s church hall in Peel.

The coffee morning itself raised a further £488.83 and two more amounts of dip sponsorship money were handed in, making a total for the day of £749.

Each charity will therefore now receive a further £250 each.

Dip sponsors Green’s Jewellers, of Michael Street in Peel, and the organisers thanked everyone who helped in any way to make the dip a success once again.

Organisers also thanked the Steam Packet, which donated a travel voucher for a car plus two passengers, and all the other shops and businesses and individuals who donated raffle prizes at the coffee morning.
