Douglas’s Probus Club is looking for new members.

The annual general meeting heard that numbers had dropped and the group decided to launch a publicity drive.

Probus clubs are organisations for men and women who have retired from their profession or business and want to stay in touch with others who have similar interests.

In the Isle of Man there are five clubs. These are: the All-Island Probus; Ramsey and District Probus; the Probus Club of Rushen; The Probus Club of Douglas; and the Probus Club of Western Mann.

Anyone interested in joining the club should contact its secretary, Charles Craine, at [email protected] for more information.

Meetings are held at the Palace Hotel on the third Monday of the month when lunch is served. A speaker then delivers a talk.

At the meeting, the new president and vice president were appointed. Jack Verity was made president and Malcolm Kelly his deputy.
