Pubs and clubs are set to fully reopen today (Thursday), but this won’t be the case for some due to a draught beer and cider shortage.

Residents will be able to raise their glasses in licensed premises tonight following four weeks of having no positive cases of Covid-19 in the island.

However, the ongoing pandemic has meant that not all pubs and clubs will be able to reopen just yet.

The Licensed Victuallers Association said: ’With the Isle of Man being first within the British Isles to abolish social distancing, certain draught products may not be available or could be in short supply.

’This is due to many being UK demand driven with the UK still effectively in lockdown, but it will return to normal as soon as time allows.’

A number of Heron and Brearley pubs will be open today, including: The Cat with No Tail in Douglas; The Bridge in Douglas; The George in Castletown; The Raven in Ballaugh; The Swan in Ramsey; Sam Webbs in Douglas; Manx Arms in Onchan; The Woodbourne in Douglas; The Haven in Port Erin; The Heron in Douglas; The Saddle in Douglas; The Rosemount in Douglas; The Bridge in Douglas; The Queens in Douglas; The Bowling Green in Douglas; The Union in Castletown.

The Station in Port Erin will open tomorrow.

Police have urged the public to remain respectful to the staff working on these premises and to pace themselves as well as make a plan on getting home safely.
