There are reports of children having suffered chemical burns at Kewaigue Primary School.
Some pupils were reportedly taken to hospital after taking part in a ’slip and slide’ event where it appears they were exposed to cleaning chemicals.
The school organised the event, which was held on Wednesday afternoon.
It’s believed some of the products, understood to be cleaning products, used for the slide caused adverse effects on some of the pupils.
Isle of Man Newspapers has been made aware of at least one child who has experienced burns to their legs.
We have contacted the Department for Education, Sport and Culture for a statement.
A parent of one of the pupils told us the ’all the parents are fully in support of the staff’ and that ’there is not lasting damage’ suffered by any of the children.
She added: ’The school took great care of the children and all the parents of those affected had a personal phone call from the head teacher.
’We won’t want to condem or tarnish the school or the staff in any way, the children love the school and are upset that this accident may affect a member of staff in their job.’
