Young dancers collected their trophies and were praised for their talents at an annual presentation.
Over the last year the Dance Dynamics pupils have won more than 60 trophies and ’a multitude of medals’, with competitions having taken place on and off-island.
The team also scored a 100% pass rate in their ballet, ballroom, cheer and freestyle exams, with the majority scoring top marks of honours and distinctions.
They also won their first ever Guild entry this year.
Joanne Kelly, who runs the dance classes in Douglas, said: ’We are just so thrilled with the team spirit and improvement everyone has shown throughout the year.
’Our cheer students compete away in the UK and again, although we have only a dozen or so that choose to compete, they have been unbelievably successful.
’In March, one of our senior girls, Lily Yates, competed in the 16/17 years advanced dance in the Blackpool Tower and won! She only turned 16 a couple of months before so would have been one of the youngest on the floor.
’I’m delighted that she has decided to train to become a teacher with us, so will be doing this alongside her own training.’
The school began in 2010 and runs its exams under the Royal Academy of Dance and International Dance Teachers Association. This year the school taught about 70 students.
’I’ve chosen to keep the school relatively small so that children get plenty of attention in their classes and there is always time for extra tuition if needed,’ added Joanne.
’I cannot describe to you how proud I am of each and every one of our dancers.
’Not for the results, which I am obviously delighted with, but with the fantastic attitude all the children have towards their dancing.’
