The announcement that there will be no summer examinations in Wales next year is being analysed by the Department of Education, Sport and Culture.

A spokesman has told the Manx Independent: ’Discussions with the Welsh Joint Education Committee (WJEC) exam board are ongoing to assess any possible impact this may have for Isle of Man pupils.’

The Welsh Education Minister, Kirsty Williams, said instead of exams the government would work with schools and colleges to put in place teacher-managed assessments.

The Guardian reported that Ms Williams said some of the assessments would be set and marked externally but delivered within classrooms under teacher supervision. There would be an ’agreed national approach’ to provide consistency across Wales.
