Foxdale Primary School will have a new headteacher from September.

Anna Griffiths is taking over from Ann Jessopp, who will retire this summer after 10 years at the school and 26 years teaching in the Isle of Man.

Miss Griffiths has worked in teaching since 2001, including most recently, seven years as Onchan Primary School’s deputy headteacher.

She said: ’I am honoured to take on the role of headteacher at Foxdale Primary School and I am really looking forward to building relationships with the children, staff, parents and the wider community.

’My aim is to build on Foxdale School’s current strengths and successes and I’m delighted to be a part of this exciting new phase in the school’s development.

’I would like to thank everyone at Onchan School for being so supportive and for making my time there so memorable.’

Born in the Isle of Man, Anna was educated at Ashley Hill Primary School and St Ninian’s High School before completing a degree in primary education with English specialism and qualified teacher status, graduating in 2000.

She has 20 years of teaching experience, having taught in a number of schools in Liverpool and on the island, and has been deputy headteacher at Onchan since 2013.
