Post-graduates from the Isle of Man who want work experience with the United Nations are being urged to apply for financial help.
In 1985 Charles Colvington formed the United Nations Association of the Isle of Man.
On the death of Suzanne Colvington, widow of Charles in 2016, a bequest was made to establish a trust in memory of her husband, with instructions for funding to assist financially up to three Manx post-graduates to attend the intern programme or summer school at the United Nations in Geneva.
The Charles Colvington Trust was formed in October 2018 as a Manx registered charity, with trustees appointed from the United Nations Association of the Isle of Man, ensuring that the Colvington name will always be linked with the association and its work in the future.
The chairman of the Colvington Trust and President of Tynwald, Steve Rodan, said: ’This is a generous and unique opportunity for our graduates to benefit from the experience of working at the UN with individuals from other countries and cultures as well as representing our own Manx heritage.’
The other trustees are appointed from the UN Association of the Isle of Man.
Any post graduate student or educationalist who is interested in being considered or wants further information should contact in the secretary of the UNAIOM, Jennie Thompson, on 488540 or email [email protected].
