Groups of students from Castle Rushen High School have been doing 5km circuits of Castletown to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.
First held last year, the students raised more than £5,000 for the charity. This year they hope to surpass that and have a target of £5,500.
One hundred and ten students took part in the first event and a £1 entry fee was boosted by other donations raising the tally for just that inaugural race to at least £805 (some funds were outstanding).
More races took place on July 14, 17 and 19.
The organiser, physical education teacher teacher Aalish Burden said: ’We have done it to help raise the awareness of cancer, and to raise money for a cause that will effect nearly all of us.
’Sadly one in three of us will be diagnosed with cancer, and for many students, they may have already experienced family or friends who have been diagnosed, recovered from or passed away from cancer.’
