The head teacher at Castle Rushen high school has written to parents to inform them that some older year groups will be asked to stay at home on certain days next week.

It’s due to ongoing ’significant’ staff absences.

Lessons for those in years 10,11,12 and 13 are facing disruption as a result and students in those groups will be asked to stay at home.

Year 10 have been asked not to attend school all day on Tuesday, (December 7).

Year 11 will have no lessons five and six on Thursday (December 9).

Year 12 will have no lessons at all on Monday (December 6); no lessons one to three on Wednesday (December 8) and no fifth and sixth lessons on Thursday (December 9).

Meanwhile, there will be no lessons one to three on Wednesday (December 8) or lessons five to six on Thursday (December 9) for Year 13 students.

The school says it plans to be teaching all year groups face-to-face again from next Friday (December 10) - though this will be confirmed next week.

It also warned further sessions may have to be cancelled if absence levels rise.

They are asking that Year 10 and 11 pupils not attend on the days or lessons listed, whilst Year 12 and 13 students can attend for private study but must sign in and out of reception if they do.
