Queen Elizabeth II High School’s performing arts department had an array of talent on show, performing music, dance and spoken word at their annual spring showcase.
The concert included the school’s regular extra-curricular ensembles such as wind band, junior choir, senior choir, dance groups, partner primary choir and flute choir.
The spring showcase is also an opportunity to highlight solo work from examination material in nusic and dance in and outside of school.
The audience were treated to jazz, classical, rock and pop, Irish and Manx traditional genres from performers aged 11 to 18.
The audience were also treated to a speech about the importance of the arts, originally written for the Rotary annual public speaking competition.
The annual presentation was made for the ’Outstanding Contribution to Performing Arts’ given to selected students who have gone above and beyond in supporting the performing arts department during their time at school. Rachel Smith and Shannon Caren received the award this year.
The students are looking forward to a tour to Belgium in 2020 with the wind band and joint choirs.
