Queen Elizabeth II High School in Peel ’won’ a visit from Olympic silver medallist, and rugby 7s star James Rodwell.

The school ’won’ a day with James as a result of its work on the ’Get Set Value Awards’.

The awards promote ’Olympic values of friendship, excellence and respect and the Paralympic values of inspiration, determination, courage and equality’.

Students from the school have been taking part in the awards, working towards their Values Stars Awards and Values Champions Award which were completed in February.

Teacher, Lesley Sleight, said: ’James gave an inspirational assembly linking the Olympic values of friendship, respect and excellence into his own sporting career.

’A big highlight of the day was seeing the very many students dressed in their own sports club kit; such a wide variety of sports on display. A celebration of sport with such a rugby legend will be highlight of the year for many.’

Headteacher Sue Moore echoed that sentiment, saying it was ’a fabulous day for all involved’.

Rodwell is the second most capped rugby 7s player in history.
