University College Isle of Man is holding an information morning for prospective students to find out more about the range of learning options it offers.

The event takes place at its Homefield Road site on Saturday (February 8) from 9.30am to midday.

Vice principal Geoff Chatwood said: ’Whether you have decided on a course at UCM and want more information, or you are just considering your future options, the information morning is the best time for you to do that.’

Visitors will be able to meet tutors from all subject departments to talk about the range of full and part-time courses on offer and to explore the facilities.

These include the ’realistic working environments’ which are learning spaces that re-create workplace settings: the Annie Gill Café, Cristory’s Restaurant, Synnova Hair Salon and Little Explorers Nursery, as well as the purpose-built construction and engineering workshops.

From September, UCM will start offering a level three course in music peformance and production.

There will be a talk on apprenticeships entitled, ’Look Beyond’, which coincides with the UK National Apprenticeship Week’s theme this year.

Attendees will learn about the range of apprenticeship programmes that UCM offer, as well as their benefits.

A Department of Education, Sport and Culture representative will also be on hand to explain how the department supports students and businesses that are involved in the apprenticeship programmes.
