Education chiefs will be providing workshops next week to help parents understand the problems faced by schoolchildren.
A ’Support and Signpost’ evening will be held on Tuesday, November 28, at St Ninian’s High School’s Bemahague site on Heywood Avenue, Onchan, to provide advice about issues that affect pupils.
The event, which will begin at 6pm, is a collaboration between St Ninian’s and a number of primary schools - Onchan, Ashley Hill, Laxey, Cronk-y-Berry, St Mary’s and Willaston.
Parents and guardians can attend up to four sessions on the evening, which cover ’sexting’ (phone texting with sexual content), emotional wellbeing, drugs and alcohol, the importance of good attendance and employment laws for young people.
Organisations that are taking part include the Department of Education and Children’s youth service, the police, CRUSE bereavement care, Motiv8 and other services.
The 30-minute workshops will be open to parents and carers whose children attend the schools named above. To book a place, parents must contact their child’s school.
