The Isle of Man branch of the Embroiderers’ Guild is holding an open day on Saturday, February 22, at St Andrew’s Church on Glencrutchery Road.

Throughout the day there will be demonstrations of different stitch techniques including mindful stitching, redwork, English paper piecing, sashiko and freestyle embroidery.

There will also be several different hands-on opportunities to try stitching.

A wide range of embroidered pieces made by branch members will be on display.

These will include a section titled Everybody Starts Somewhere.

These are ’early’ pieces, perhaps made by members when they were children, or these are first efforts at trying new techniques.

There will also be a number of embroidered pieces loaned to the branch by the Embroiderers’ Guild for this exhibition.

These pieces on loan have been exhibited nationally and are on the island by special arrangement.

There is no entry fee and children will be welcome.

Refreshments will be made available.

Doors open at 10am and the event runs until 4pm.
