Teacher Archana Kamble has stepped down as head of English at Castle Rushen High School after students were taught the wrong text for their iGCSE English exam.
Ms Kamble, who had been head of English for a year, will continue as a teacher at the school.
She has been replaced as head of English by Rachael Moore, who currently teaches at Ballakermeen High School and takes up her new role in September.
The move clarifies who was to blame for the mix up in which students were taught the exam text for the previous year rather than the 2018 syllabus.
In the June Tynwald sitting, Education Minister Graham Cregeen appeared to blame the Year 11 head of year.
In response to a question from Onchan MHK Julie Edge of ’what policy is in place to ensure that the subject leaders are teaching the correct parts’, Mr Cregeen replied: ’There are link advisers who go round to the schools.
’But this was actually down to the head of year, who had misread it.’
The school confirmed the Year 11 head of year was not responsible for the error.
Students have just learned the error will not affect their grade as Cambridge International, the exam board responsible for the exam, has announced it will judge pupils on two of their other modules and use those to award them a grade.
