Are you an adventurer or artisan, discoverer or mover, a believer or explorer?

These are the ’clans’ that Visit Isle of Man hopes to attract to the island in the latest push to reinvigorate the island’s tourism industry.

The government agency will launch the next chapter of its ’Extraordinary Story’ marketing campaign next week.

Its interest-led campaign encourages visitors to follow the example of Mann’s trailblazing settlers from history and carve out their own path as one of six ’clans’.

Adventurers use the natural environment as their playground for action-packed activities. They will be coming to the island for mountain biking, climbing and watersports.

Artisans are ’tantalised by the taste of the landscape and touched by the purity and provenance of the delicious delicacies’. They will be checking out friendly eateries, touring Moore’s kipper yard in Peel and calling in at Noa Bakehouse.

Discoverers ’wander at will and are eager to uncover the epic landscapes’. They will be heading for the beaches, walking the Raad ny Foillan coast path, going pony trekking and gazing at the dark night skies.

Movers ’yearn for freedom and the rush of excitement’, delivered apparently by a trip on the heritage railways and a visit to Jurby Transport Museum.

Believers are ’captivated by mystical folklore and love uncovering hidden treasures in their natural environment’. They will be heading for the fairy homes and wizard sculptures in the Manx glens.

Finally, Explorers will ’seek out and marvel at the stories which unfolded an age ago’.

For them, the island is all about history and heritage, with visits to castles and ancient sites, a guided tour of the Gaiety Theatre and a trip to the House of Manannan.

Visit Isle of Man agency was launched 18 months ago with a remit to increase visitor numbers and visitor spend and jobs in the tourism and hospitality sector.
