With only two weeks to go, more details are being released about the line-up for a major inter-Celtic event, held in the island.

Yn Chruinnaght’s Celtic Gathering 2018 festival takes place from the middle of next week, with a line-up of top, award-winning local and international talent from the world of traditional music.

With the main centre of attention being at the Peel Centenary Centre, the weekend will focus on two days of family entertainment and outdoor performances at the House of Mannanan, in Peel.

On Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15, there will be Manx and Celtic folk dancing in the House of Mannanan courtyard, featuring the Manx dance groups Skeddan Jiarg and Perree Bane Beg and the Welsh group Cymru Cymysg.

There will also be music and free outdoor performances from the visiting musicians Las and NoGood Boyo, and also from two local bagpipe bands, including the new local trio Skirl.

The House of Mannanan will also be home to language workshops, offering taster sessions in Welsh, Manx and Breton Gaelic, as well as dance workshops, where you can try your hand at Welsh clog dancing, led by Bethan Rhiannon.

There will also be arts and crafts stalls, including a display of Knox-inspired jewellery from Scottish silversmith Leigh Rogerson.

Skeddan Jiarg will also be holding street performances in Peel on Sunday afternoon, from 1.30pm.

Cartoonist Phil Woodford will be holding a tour around his exhibition, which is still on at the House of Mannanan, on Sunday afternoon, from 2pm.

The festivities will close with a mass ’Fest Noz’ dance with Breton group Glaou.

Festival organiser Chloe Woolley thinks that the weekend will prove to be popular.

’There will be something for everyone,’ she said.

It will be great to get as many people down as possible, and make the festival one to remember.’
