Staff at the trust and corporate services business of JTC’s Douglas office have raised £6,500 to support the work of the island’s Family Library.

The fundraising efforts formed part of the company’s group-wide ‘Maximising Potential’ initiative, which saw more than 1,000 employees across 20 locations undertake fundraising activities towards the end of 2021, aimed at supporting local educational charities.

In raising the total, the 22-strong team in the Isle of Man were proportionally the biggest fundraisers across the firm, with employees organising or taking part in a range of activities including a Christmas raffle, a ‘bake off’, dress-down days, a book sale, a games night and the Santa Dash.

On top of their own fundraising efforts, the Isle of Man team received an additional £500 from the firm in recognition of proportionally being the group’s ‘top fundraisers’.

In total, the initiative saw more than £86,000 raised for worthy causes around the world, through the combination of an original donation by JTC, employee fundraising and JTC’s corporate matching scheme.

Donations are now being used to support specific regional initiatives and projects undertaken by educational charities, selected by employees in those locations.

The funds raised by the JTC team in the Isle of Man will specifically support the Family Library’s science and education program, including its Saturday Morning Science Club where young people get to do some science-related activities in order to advance their early understanding of the subject

Sue Jolly, Family Library manager, said: ‘We’re really grateful to the team at JTC. The delivery of our science and education program is built on our belief that this is an essential area of learning for young people, and the support that JTC has shown through this donation will ensure we are able to roll out this vital programme and give as many young people access to it as possible.

‘We are excited to be working together on this initiative, and others in the future too.’

JTC’s Isle of Man managing director Aidan Davin, added: ‘I’m really proud of the team. In true JTC spirit, they all pulled together and raised an impressive sum for the Family Library, which we hope will make a big difference to the role it plays in the community.

‘Of course, we’re pleased to have been recognised as the biggest fundraisers compared to our other offices, but we’re also keen that this is about building a relationship with the Family Library too.

‘We’re looking forward to working together and supporting specific initiatives delivered by the library over the coming year.’
