People who’d like to find out more about the internet will be helped at an event next week.
The government is promoting what it calls ’digital inclusion’- using the sort of jargon which could, arguably, put off exactly the sort of people such initatives are aimed at.
Organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors will take part to encourage more people to get online.
A Cabinet Office spokesman said: ’Being online can provide people with access to training and jobs, social and leisure activities and internet shopping. It can also tackle wider social issues caused by digital exclusion.’
The seminar will take place at the Ballakermeen Studio Theatre, Douglas, on Thursday, February 15, from 9am to 1.30pm. It is free to attend and is open to anyone who feels they would benefit from the guidance
It will concentrate on topics such as nursing and care homes, banking, social security, libraries and charities.
Tickets can be booked on Eventbrite and further information is available from Pam Teare on 685293.
The Cabinet Office says that the guest speakers are ’experienced in helping people to learn, so they can inspire others to get the best from the internet and digital technology’.
