Diners in Douglas will be able to enjoy live music, performed by top visiting folk musicians next weekend, as they eat their dinner.

The Yn Chruinnaght Celtic Gathering festival kicks off next week, and from Monday, July 15, some of the groups will be holding free, informal lunchtime performances and sessions at Noa Bakehouse, on North Quay, Douglas, beginning at 1pm each day.

The first afternoon session will see a mixture of traditional Welsh and Manx folk tunes from the accordion maestro Jamie Smith and guitarist Paul Rogers.

Tuesday’s lunchtime session features an Irish music session, featuring some of the local session players including Mary Molloy and Pat Knight.

Appalachian duo Randy Wilson and Gabriel Dansereau will be performing on Wednesday, and Thursday sees the visiting Breton duo Lors Landat and Thomas Moisson entertain the lunchtime dining crowd.

The final midday session sees a Cornish music session hosted by the Daveys.

The lunchtime sessions have become a popular part of the inter-Celtic festival of music and culture.

During each session, the performers will play a couple of sets of their own music, to which people are free to sit and listen, and there will also be the chance for people to bring an instrument and join in during some of the more informal moments.
