Girls have enjoyed expert football tuition from Blackburn Rovers.

Representatives of the Lancashire team visited the island to hold soccer camps.

Rovers coaches Matt Pilkington and Tom Perris helped 18 girls to help improve their skills and love of the game over five days.

Douglas Royal football club chairman Paul Glover and coach Tracy Craig organised the trip with Rovers.

They hope that Blackburn Rovers will return to the island in the new year with more camps and activities already in the pipeline.

Organisers say that the children enjoyed the activities, held at Ballafletcher.

They say that many parents spoke of how their children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and were exhausted by the end.

Girls’ and women’s football is growing.

Most of the top professional teams field women’s and girls’ teams.

Rovers coaches also led a camp held the summer holidays which was attended by more than 60 children.
