The Mountain Road has been featured as part of a series showing off the best roads in Europe.
Ford’s Greatest Driving Roads series, available on Youtube, is used by the manufacturer to show off its new cars and promote iconic roads and locations.
The Ford Bullit, with a top speed of 163mph, was unleashed on the Mountain Road driven by motor journalist Steve Sutcliffe.
Steve said: ’Imagine German autobahns, then add hills and twists, and shrink it to a single carriageway with incredible views, and what you have are these utterly fantastic, and dramatic, roads.
’The Mountain Road section feels - and is - an utterly dramatic piece of road to drive. It’s epic, and quite unlike anywhere else.’
The video shows the new car at various stages of the mountain from Ramsey to the Creg-ny-Baa.
The voice over said: ’Until you come here and drive it for yourself, you’ll never fully understand how incredible it is.’
Praising the Manx people, Steve added: ’You may go there for the exhilaration of driving one of Europe’s most notorious roads, but it’s the people, the food and the scenery that will compound your sadness to be getting the ferry home.’
The video was recorded on October 4, when the road was closed from 9.30am and 3pm.
Ford, like Audi before it, did not pay for the road closure.
