Tributes have been paid to Terry Black, a former chairman of Onchan Commissioners.
He has died at the age of 87.
Onchan Commissioners released a statement on their Facebook page, which reads: ’Mr Black joined the board of commissioners as a result of a by-election in October 1990, when he topped the poll of three candidates.
’Over the following 22 years he served as chairman of various committees as well as being chairman of the board of commissioners in 1997 and 2003.
’He stood down at the 2012 election and will be fondly remembered by many past and present members and staff of the authority as a lively contributor to debate who was always keen that local authorities act for the benefit of their electorate.’
’The commissioners and staff extend their deepest condolences to Terry’s wife Maureen, daughters Yvonne and Nicola, and his many grandchildren.’
Onchan Football Club, which Mr Black was involved with for many years, also paid tribute.
The club will hold a minute’s silence or applause before its combination game this weekend at Onchan Stadium.
It added: ’The club are saddened to hear of the sad passing of former club member, committee members and supporter Terry Black. Our thoughts are with Terry’s family at this sad time.’
